Product Description: Though it only aired for one season the 1979 cartoon series THE NEW ADVENTURES OF FLASH GORDON is fondly remembered for its innovative use of rotoscoping (a form of animation that involves tracing over live-action footage for a remarkably kinetic effect). Closely adhering to the style and storyline of Alex Raymond's classic 1930s comic strip the series followed the intergalactic adventures of Flash Gordon as he his girlfriend Dale Arden and their scientific companion Dr. Han Zarkov fought to save the universe from the evil plotting of tyrannical space lord Ming the Merciless. This collection presents the beloved series in its entirety for a total of 24 episodes.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: CHILDREN/FAMILY UPC: 787364700790

I loved everthing about this except the "Gremlin"character. I was blown away by the first 19 episodes then some studio exec "juvenilized" this series. Still better than Dragon Ball z or Pokemon. I would like to see this series resurected for late night TV,minus the kiddie elements.

This series was my first exposure to Flash Gordon and is my personal favorite, although I enjoyed the old serials with Buster Crabbe very much as well. The voice talent was excellent as well and what I liked about them is the same reason I liked the old serials. The actors were very effective in selling an outlandish story ... Read More

I orginally missed this series during its TV broadcast days, but was already a big fan of the three Flash Gordon serials and the Alex Raymond comic strip. So when it became available as a DVD release I was anxious to see how well it stacked up to previous Flash Gordon incarnations. I was very pleasantly surprised. The series is very well made and, unlike the current Sci Fi channel Flash Gordon "in name only" TV show, provides very much the same excitement and adventure as the original source material. ... These DVDs are great! Every episode is fun to watch. Although by today's standards its not the best out there, the stories and action still hold up well. If anyone ever enjoyed watching this series when they were young, this is a must have.
For sci-fi fans who never got to watch the show, I highly recommend enjoying it now that its available. Many times we forget how good an older show was/is until we go back and watch it again.
It may have a slight "Saturday Morning Catoon" feel to it, but ... Read More
