Editorial Review:
Product Description: Accomplished director Sidney Lumet has based some of his most notable films on true crime stories and FIND ME GUILTY is similar in this respect to such work as SERPICO and DOG DAY AFTERNOON. The difference lies in the comedic almost cartoonish aspect of the later movie which stars an astonishingly charming Vin Deisel as lifelong Mafioso Jackie DiNorscio. Perennially cheerful and always cracking wise DiNorscio is a notorious criminal who is serving time on his most recent conviction for cocaine trafficking when the Feds bring him in to offer him a deal. They are mounting a massive case against New Jersey s biggest mob family led by Nick Calabrese (Alex Rocco) in what will eventually earn a World Record as the longest-running trial in history. The fiercely loyal DiNorscio however refuses to rat on his friends and instead he finds himself standing trial along with them.Jackie throws another wrench into the works by deciding to forgo a lawyer and represent himself in the case; he begins a line of argument that positions him as a "gagster not a gangster." All the lawyers on the case are initially horrified by this decision including their leader Ben Klandis (Peter Dinklage in a rare turn) while Jackie repeatedly offends the judge (Ron Silver) and drives the high strung D.A. Sean Kierney (Linus Roache) to distraction. However as the case progresses it becomes apparent that Jackie is winning over judge jury and audience. His commitment to his friends and family emerges in numerous moving moments while Jackie s testimony--based closely on transcripts from the trial--remains truly entertaining while calling into question the integrity of a judicial system that just might fall for it.System Requirements:Running Time 125 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: COMEDY Rating: R UPC: 024543248941 Manufacturer No: 2234894
Amazon.com: Vin Diesel gives his best performance to date in Sidney Lumet's Find Me Guilty, a courtroom comedy-drama (based on the true story of Mafia soldier "Fat Jack" DiNorscio) about the longest criminal trial in U.S. history. Diesel plays Giacomo "Jackie Dee" DiNorscio, a loyal member of New Jersey's notorious Lucchese crime family, who's already serving a 30-year jail term when he's offered an opportunity to shorten his sentence if he agrees to testify against many of his closest friends. He refuses, choosing instead to defend himself in a 21-month courtroom trial that involves 20 other Mafia members, each with their own defense attorney, all brought to trial on 76 charges ranging from criminal conspiracy to narcotics trafficking. As the lead defense attorney (Peter Dinklage) and prosecutor (Linus Roache) guide the trial through a maze of legal triumphs and setbacks, Lumet (still going strong at age 81) turns this goombah gab-fest into the kind of edgy New York comedy that only he could direct, drawing heavily on his experience with such courtroom classics as The Verdict and 12 Angry Men. And while he's filled the screen with a marvelous supporting cast including Alex Rocco, Ron Silver (as the no-nonsense judge) and Annabella Sciorra, Lumet can't quite overcome the confined, theatrical nature of the material, much of it drawn directly from actual courtroom transcripts. Find Me Guilty lacks the dramatic impact of The Verdict, favoring instead the rich absurdity of the DiNorscio case and its equally outrageous outcome after the jury's surprisingly brief deliberation. This is comfortable territory for Lumet, and he brings out the best in his extensive cast – especially Diesel, who walks a fine line between courtroom shenanigans and fierce loyalty to his criminal clan.--Jeff Shannon

Find me guilty is a comedy that contains a talented cast. Vin Diesel manages to shed his "tough guy image" to show that he is a skilled actor.
I rate this movie with five stars.

This is a viewable comedy about what was the longest trial in US criminal history about a case against a mafia family. Watching the movie it is clear the case the government made too complex and big a case against too many people. What made it longer and more interesting was that one person decided to defend himself. This possibly was as he was in jail already for so long anyway and he had decided already not to turn on his friends that to him the case did not matter that much. The movie concentrates ... 2006. Written and directed by Sidney Lumet. When Law and Ethic are flouted by incompetence and the perversions of the legal system. It is meant to be funny at times but leaves a bitter aftertaste in the mouth. All in all, another prizewinner for the 82 years old filmmaker.

the movie was based on a true story which took place at the essex county court house, in newark nj. the location shots were great. the only problem i had was the fact that the lead attorney "michael critchley" was played by a midget. a good movie, fun to watch.

Yes, it is more of a drama than a comedy but my wife and I found ourselves laughing out loud several times throughout this gem. It was sheer anticipation to what Vin would say next in questioning the various witnesses. I didn't even realize he could act in a serious but yet comedic role? Even more amazing is this was a true story, with the actual transcripts being used. A must see, highly recommended!!!
