Editorial Review:
Description: Normally one associates muscleman Lon Chaney Jr. with horror or crime classics, but it is a delightful change to see him in The Girl of My Dreams as an innocent sophomore, who is finding out that there is more to life than being able to hurl a 16 pound brass ball further than any other competitor. Set on a college campus, this movie has traces of a musical, a sprinkling of action, a few rings of romance and a huge slice of comedy all thrown together in an enjoyable manner by director Ray McCarey. Although the cast seems to be a little over the hill for their roles, laudable performances by one and all more than cover up for minor flaws. The music is great and it is amusing to see Lon flex his vocal muscles for a change.
Predictably the movie ends on a suspense-filled note and equally predictably on a victorious note for the home team, but not before entertaining you sufficiently with some convincing athletic feats.
All in all this is an entertaining movie, with a bit of something for everybody and is the kind of movie you would like to witness with the family when its raining on a Sunday morning. Witness this hilarious college-life drama - which if nothing else - promises to evoke nostalgia.

I'm the first to admit that I like strange little old movies. I tend to shy away from the classics and seek out odd little genre films. This one certainly qualifies. It has lon chaney jr as a high school dude trying to win the big game in order to win the heart of a girl he likes. What makes it interesting is putting a classic horror movie actor into this role. It changes the whole dynamic of hte film and turns what could have been pedestrian into something wonderful.

This is one of the strangest and sweetest movies I've seen in a while. It has Lon Cheny Jr - the guy who played The Wolfman - as a high school athelete with a crush on a girl. He also needs to win the big game (of course) while finding a way to romance his lady. There are many funny moments, but I watched it to see the big kiss at the end. It plays like many modern high school romances, but doesn't talk about sex and is much more family friendly than most.

"This is one movie for the whole family. Lighthearted and entertaining, it reminds me of my college days, when life on the campus was simple and full of wholesome fun. I enjoyed it and I know that everybody who treasures his or her undergrad days will be entertained as well."
