Chevy Chase plays a private eye who is murdered and returns to life as a dog (Benji). The film--a plot reversal of a 1951 Dick Powell comedy called You Never Can Tell--has a dash of Chase- style comedy and a big serving of Benji-flavored cuteness, making for a perfectly fine family movie with a little something for everyone. Jane Seymour is an attractive love interest, Omar Sharif (amazingly) is on board, and former Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In star Alan Sues has a small part. --Tom Keogh

Great buy fast shipping. I'm not a big Chevy Chase fan but this is one of the exceptions. Benji steals the movie with Jane Seymour. Fantastic picture to show with kids that are on the edge of adult hood. Having Benji in the picture was probably the greatest accomplishment.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - "I don't like being cute. I don't like being fluffy. And I want some friggin' hands!"
Case folks forgot, Chevy Chase was huge in the way back days, when he left Saturday Night Live to go do movies. A few years on top in the early '80s, yep, but then it was mostly downhill for the lazy, silly gent ever since. I can count on one hand the number of films that I really like in Chevy Chase's "oeuvre." Somewhere on that short list is OH HEAVENLY DOG, a fun mystery/fantasy picture I saw when I was a kid. It's got Chevy Chase's trademark wry one-liners and a bit of that Heaven Can Wait flavor. ... Read More

A pleasant movie to watch if you just want to relax - and see another human coming back as an animal that catches the villain that murdered him as a man - a different ending from most that I have seen .....

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - heavenly good
Chevy Chase is just amazing. his presence and his voice in this case are High Caliber. If you want to enjoy a nice detective story which joins Chevy chase as a detectiv, and later on Benji as Chevy Chase's reincarnation, watch this movie. heavenly good

Great movie!
It is rather old, but definitely one of the favourite movies in our family collection!
