Editorial Review:
Product Description: THE VEIL The Veil, a spine-tingling television series devoted to the paranormal, stars Boris Karloff as the show's host. Hailed as one of the greatest television series that was never aired, The Veil, unfortunately, never made it to the small screen due to the financial problems of the show's film company. Television buffs that enjoy tension and suspense will delight in these thrilling episodes chock full of surprising twists and unexpected turns.
Also in for an exciting treat are Boris Karloff fans who will enjoy watching the veteran horror icon assume several diverse roles including a comically inept British sergeant, an elderly gentleman confined to a wheelchair who is guarding a terrible secret, and a psychiatrist at the Bellevue Hospital in New York. The stories Karloff tells revolve around such supernatural phenomena as messages from beyond the grave, psychic premonitions, and other paranormal events. These hair-raising tales will have you on the edge of your seat in disbelief over the freaky phenomena unfolding before your very eye...and wondering if they're true! FEATURING 10 EPISODES Crystal Ball; Food on the Table; Doctors; Destination Nightmare; Genesis; Vision of Crime; Girl on the Road; Jack the Ripper; Summer Heat; Return of Madam ONE STEP BEYOND One Step Beyond, the classic TV series of 1959, premiered nine months before another spooky, and perhaps more well known, television show revolving around the paranormal, The Twilight Zone. Both shows featured hosts, were centered on the supernatural, and superbly evoked a spine-chilling experience for the viewer. But one immense distinction sets One Step Beyond apart from its successor--the episodes are true stories. Rather than tell fictional tales about the unexplained, this series relayed historic accounts of the unknown, including tales of ghosts, mysterious disappearances, and ghoulish monsters. Hosted by the intense and impenetrable John Newland, this long-running series promises you a bone-chilling fright night of creepy entertainment based on factual accounts. FEATURING 10 EPISODES Vanishing Point; Dead Ringer; Open Window; Gypsy; To Know the End; The Vision; The Riddle; The Lovers; Anniversary of a Murder; The Sorcerer

not bad but expecting a complete series. I also thought that Boris Karloff had narrated the one step beyond series. Not bad at all though.

It is fun to look at the sets of the 1950s, and being in black and white gives an interesting perspective. The subject of unexplained phenomena in a show during the 1950s is heartening since even now people still dismiss such occurrences. I personally didn't know Boris Karloff tried his hand at hosting a tv show plus playing a role in all the episodes in The Veil. John Newland does a good job of easing the viewer into each episode of One Step Beyond.
