Product Description: Working as a janitor for a small-town university might seem like a dead-end job to some, but Indiana Jones has nothing on Ernest, at least in his fantasies. Ernest is about the only person around who believes the out-to-lunch theory of college history professor Dr. Abner Melan (Ron James), that the real Crown Jewels of England are actually hidden in a giant cannon, called "Goliath". Why even the wishy-washy professor himself doesn't quite believe it until Ernest hijacks his henpecked friend and the action explodes like a cannonball in Ernest Rides Again.

This ranks among my most favorite of "Ernest" movies. The bumbling janitor Ernest P. Worrel (Jim Varney) and his wishy-washy, history-professor friend, Abner Melon (Ron James), stumble upon an old revolutionary-war cannon known as "Goliath," that Abner has been searching for his whole life. Unbeknownst to them, other people are also interested in the cannon because it contains the crown jewels of England: a history professor and Abner's boss (Tom Butler), who moonlights as a penny ante crime boss, ... What can I say? This is the BEST Ernest film ever! All the
other Ernest films are funny too, but this one has a more
believable script, an awesome chase scene and an interesting
plot. When Ernest finds a piece of a revoloutionary war cannon
named "Goliath",(mistaking it for a prehistoric telivision
antennae component) he and his proffessor friend DR. Abner
Melon are off to find the cannon and prove that the green
mountain regulars stole the crown jewels and hid ... Read More

I sat through this horrible piece of garbage in the theater, sitting beside my four year old son who didn't know any better. There's no plot to speak of, no script worth remarking, but only Ernest and companions seemingly ad libbing (badly) their way through the landscape with a giant cannon.
I was a fan of the earlier Ernest movies, liked the impossibly dopey humor, but this isn't just the bottom of the Ernest barrel, it's actually a deep pit beneath the barrel, close to the core of the earth, where ... Read More

What can you say about the Ernest movies. There fun, clean, and just plain enjoyable. This one is was the last to be brought out in theaters. Granted it didn't do very well, thanks to other movies with sex, lauguage, and guns ablazing. I will miss Ernest, he was the only character to just be goofy and have fun. RIP Jim Verney.

Can you believe it? He actually RIDES on a giant cannon the he dug up with Professor Abner! Ernest is as hilarious as ever, with a great supporting cast of goofballs and oddballs. Don't worry, though, he comes through and saves the day with his zany antics.
