Amazon.com: I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown might otherwise be called "Peanuts: The Next Generation" for its sprightly emphasis on Linus and Lucy's younger brother, Rerun, and his quest to be worthy of a pet pooch. Like a, well, dog with a bone, Rerun is intent on forging a happy friendship with a canine as cool as Charlie Brown's Snoopy--in fact, he keeps coming around to see if Snoopy wants to play. (Of course, Snoopy's idea of playing is making Rerun his co-pilot in the imaginary cockpit of his imaginary World War Ibomber.) This holiday season television special is not the wise, enduring classic that is 1965's A Charlie Brown Christmas, but it is charming and sweet, particularly when Snoopy's brother, the desert-dwelling Spike, comes to stay. Schroeder fans will enjoy the usual shtick between love-struck Lucy and the piano genius' detachment. --Tom Keogh

I picked this DVD up originally in the 4.00 bargain bin at a local store and my daughter fell in love with it, and so did I.
I love seeing Rerun...we don't get to see him much in the Snoopy cartoons. And as my husband put it, how can you ever find something wrong with a cartoon that has a line of "How can anyone not have a dog, or a trust fund OR grape jelly!" Everyone has had days like that I think.

It is wonderful to have a source to obtain clean and wonderful DVD's to watch when my grandchildren visit! I am thrilled to have this one to watch during this Christmas season. AND I am grateful that this DVD celebrates the Christmas season instead of some nebulous "holiday" season.

Of course, I WANT A DOG FOR CHRISTMAS, CHARLIE BROWN (PEANUTS) DVD may not have that je ne sais quoi that made A Charlie Brown Christmas (Remastered Deluxe Edition) a yearly holiday favorite for many but it's still a wonderful addition to your Peanuts collection.
The story revolves around Linus and Lucy Van Pelt's baby brother Rerun who, as the title states, wants a dog for Christmas. He likes having fun with Snoopy and so he decides that it would be great if he had a dog of his own. ... Read More

Sometimes I feel nostalgic for Charlie Brown Specials, they're a celebration of innocence. This DVD hit the spot. My kids enjoyed it.

To anyone who might be interested, the soon to be released "I Want a Dog for Christmas Charlie Brown" contains the bonus episode "Happy New Year Charlie Brown." I notice that the bonus episode is not listed but I have looked it up for anyone who might be interested. I have been waiting a long time for "Happy New Year Charlie Brown" to be released. Now I can donate my "Happy New Year Charlie Brown" VHS tape to the library as well as "I Want a Dog for Christmas Charlie Brown" dvd and have more space ... Read More
