Classic teen comedy mixes with cunning satire in Saved!. Fervent Christian Mary (Jena Malone, Donnie Darko) believes God wants her to save her gay boyfriend by sleeping with him. But he gets sent to an anti-gay indoctrination camp while she ends up pregnant--which starts to drive a wedge between Mary and her snotty best friend Hilary Faye (Mandy Moore, How to Deal). Meanwhile, they're both interested in the son (Patrick Fugit, Almost Famous) of their Christian school principal (Martin Donovan, Trust). Saved! respects faith but gleefully mocks the excesses and absurdities of contemporary organized religion, particularly its suburban, let's-speak-the-language-of-the-kids manifestations. The actors, including Macaulay Culkin (yes, from Home Alone) and Mary Louise Parker (Fried Green Tomatoes), play their parts with sincerity, which makes the fusion of humor and heart succeed. Came in the same condition it said it would be in. It arrived on time and I didn't have to worry that it wasn't coming. Great service!

Has some funny parts but is mostly a charicature of a small segment of conservative Christians, and so not a great satire.

Jesus loves all of us even with our own faults. That's the one good lesson that came out of this film. Every other message this movie provides lacks a serious good insight. Unfortunately that's just the way the issue is generally dealt with. The so called Christians in this film are portrayed as conceited and shameless people who look down on everybody else with no humility. To compare Saved to Juno is probably not fair. After all, Saved deals with an issue outside of teen pregnancy. But while watching Saved, compare it to Juno was all I could do. And kudos to Saved! For me, you kicked Juno's butt! I found this dark comedy consistently funny, a little more believable, and much more memorable.

I thought this movie was amazing. My mom showed it to me when because she thought I would like it. And, again, she was right. I loved it. I think it's great for kids! I'm 11 and I completely fell in love with it. I may be going over the top, but yes, that and more.
