Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: Tailored to the most hard-core Star Trek fans, Mind Meld gets you up close and personal with the stars of the original television series. Its premise? Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner sitting together and having a quiet, earthy chat about old times. There isn't much new information about the show--though old cast resentments are addressed--but viewers learn a great deal about the personal lives of everyone's favorite spacemen. The two discuss the pressures of filming a weekly show and the difficulties of maintaining one's dignity as an actor while wearing pointy ears. The personalities of both men shine through and it becomes obvious why they were cast as they were; Nimoy really is more thoughtful and reserved, while Shatner is extroverted and showy. The best part of Mind Meld is witnessing the genuine fondness the two men share for each other. It's clear that they really were (and are) best friends, even when the cameras stopped rolling. --Ali Davis

Firstly, this is a great video. A warm, nostalgic and touching conversation between two men who stumbled into being pop culture icons. I'm a major TOS (the original series) and movies 1-6 (with emphasis on 2, 4, 6) fan and like these two men from what I've seen of them in interviews. Despite Shatner's reputation as a prima donna and preening male diva, I can't help but be fond of him. Of course, I've never met him, worked with him, or been married to him.
At the point on the DVD mentioned ... Read More

This DVD is a heart to heart between two of TOS stars getting into how the crew of the Enterprise really got along, the real reason "no one" liked Shatner (not true) and the real bond between Leonard and William. A must for every Star Trek fan, and I've been one since 1966.

I had no idea what this was when it popped up in my Amazon recommendations. I had never heard of it anywhere before. I was afraid it was some kind of low-budget and poor quality profile cobbled together from faded and scratchy archive footage by some no-name outfit out to make a quick buck. There are many of those kinds of unauthorized and completely worthless so-called documentaries being sold these days on the topic of various musical stars and groups.
But man was I wrong! This disc ... Read More

Excellent DVD. It's surprsing that after 40 plus years of knowing each other their are still things they don't know about each other. You can easily tell that Nimoy and Shatner have alot of love, warmth and friendship between each other. They discuss many topics: Star Trek (of course), personal feelings, their own deaths, and alot more. Very insightful.

Two actors born 4 days and 250 miles apart boldly followed similar lifepaths and this DVD has them in a more or less spontaneous discussion mainly about TOS. They have the rapport of a 35 year friendship and discuss insights into their personal and professional lives before, during, and since TOS. You definitely come away with more respect for these two talented brilliant actors.
