good grief- I don't even know where to begin.
I'm a fan of Julia Styles, and generally enjoy her movies. I like romantic comedies. I like goofy oddballs in films. I should have liked this movie- but no. No, no, and no.
Carolina's next door neighbor writes romance novels under a pen name- they are best friends blah blah blah. It's a romantic comedy, so you know where this is going, right? What they don't do is explain why they are just buddies- why had they never ... Read More

Yikes!! Couldn't even finish this dud. One of the most boring movies I have seen. Didn't care about the characters, didn't like the story (if there was one) and definitely didn't like this movie!!!!
Don't waste your money or time.

CAROLINA is a lovely movie about dysfunction, looking for sanity, searching for love, family ties, and other afflictions. Styles, and MacLaine are marvelous, as is the rest of the cast, and make up for a somewhat familiar, though still very likeable, story. If you enjoyed TERMS OF ENDEARMENT, this may be right up your alley. Good stuff.

It's a funny movie and a cute romcom. Randy Quaid is hilarious as the father. He deserves an Oscar. Every scene he's in makes me laugh. He's a hoot. Julia Stiles was fine too. And Shirley McLaine was wonderful as the Grandmother. She truly nailed the role. Mika Boorem was good. I love the opening scene where the two sisters are fighting and they're about to kill each other with knives and then the older one Carolina goes up to the younger sister Georgia(played by Daveigh Chase) and says, "We're not ... "The Strangest Treasure" music video on YouTube shows the real life women portrayed in 'CAROLINA' by Shirley MacLaine (Grandma Mirabeau) and Jennifer Coolidge (Aunt Marilyn). 'CAROLINA' is based on Katherine Fugate's wildly eccentric side of her family and is pretty accurate. Anyone who has watched 'CAROLINA' will find it fascinating to see the music video mentioned since it combines home movie extracts of the actual people the film is about. In "The Strangest Treasure" you'll discover that the real ... Read More
