Description:
Before The Twilight Zone there was…

One Step Beyond

Hosted by John Newland

Have you ever sensed that you've been some place before, or witnessed a bewildering situation involving the unexplainable or the paranormal? Have you ever been curious about past lives, ESP, clairvoyance, apparitions, or out-of-body experiences? If the answer to any of these questions is "yes," then you've taken a small step beyond. Now take a giant step with the One Step Beyond DVD collection, an anthropology of some of the best entertainment from the Golden Age of Television.

Before there was The Twilight Zone, this highly imaginative series set the groundwork for the ironic and abnormal, and was of one of the first to depict "real" accounts of the paranormal. With TV veteran John Newland as your personal "guide to the unknown," One Step Beyond will take you places far beyond your normal, every day reality…and once you take the giant leap, you will never look at things the same way again.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Ain't that price a bit extreme...
I hope there's a lot more episodes than what's listed.
I picked up a box-set of 50 episodes of the very same ones in a bargin bin at Shopko for $5.00, in good quality too.
Your asking $537.00. Good-luck.
WOW!!! It's a cool series but, not that cool.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - The shiws are excellent...the detail that went into producing this product was weak
Each of these 12 dvd's contains 4 episodes (or approximately 100 minutes)
I was rather disappointed by the absence of the titles to each story, although they did a nice short summary of each.

I also have the 4 dvd set which contains a total of 20 shows (5 per dvd)..Many of those are included on this set. The visual quality is the same as the 4 dvd set.

There were a total of 95 episodes....this set has 48....So where are the other 47 shows?????

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good product at a good price.
The prints of this show were not preserved well, so no DVDs of them will look as good as buyers would hope, but the DVDs in this box set look as good as any I've seen. The package is appealing, too.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A great DVD set in spite of the quality issues
I own several "classic era" TV DVD boxed sets, so I am accustomed to accepting less than perfect sound and video quality in order to have collections of high-quality drama and comedy from the past. Some have called this show a forerunner of "The Twilight Zone", but that is not exactly true. Each segment in this series was based on paranormal events or situations that defied logical explanation. In that sense, this show was much more similar in style to "The X-Files", except without the long story ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - One Step Beyond: Well worth owning
I was a young kid when this series debuted on A.B.C in 1959. I remember the nights when my father used to watch these shows and I huddled close to him because they scared me so much. There was an episode that I vaguely remember that I had nightmares about. It was the one with the twin sisters where one of them died in a house fire while the other
twin was found by her boyfriend in bed next to him with her body severely charred (anyone for spontanious human combustion?) Anyway I would ... Read More
