Description: On a training run Leo is ambushed by a major Foot attack force, including Foot Tech Ninjas, their old enemy Hun, and a new threat: the Foot Elite! At their temporary home at April’s apartment, Don, Raph and Mikey wait for Leo to get back, deciding to go search for him just before Leo’s limp form is hurled through the window! With his last breath before losing consciousness, he tells them that the worst has happened: the Shredder is back! When the Foot Ninja attack April’s apartment in force, the Turtles fight against overwhelming odds to get the wounded Leo to safety. Even the fun-lovin’ Casey finds it hard to crack wise when first Hun and then the Shredder raise the stakes, ultimately trapping our heroes in the burning Antique Shop with no way out! Whew! The Turtles, Splinter, Casey and April just barely manage to escape from the explosion that destroys the antique store. They hit the road and hide out at Casey's grandmother's old farmhouse, but Leonardo is badly wounded, drifting in an out of consciousness. As he lies unconscious, the Turtles and Splinter tell tales of Leonardo's early adventures, using the stories to help guide him back to consciousness.

In this incredible two-part episode, the turtles are caught completely off their guard by their most powerful enemy, the Shredder. I guess the guy doesn't take getting a water tower knocked on top of him very lightly, huh? This is why I love the new series so much. We see the turtles fighting for their lives in this incarnation. And they don't always win the day either, as seen in part two.
The only reason I enjoyed Tales of Leo was because of the story line dealing with Shredder ... Read More

Vol.6 and 7 in my opinion is the pinnacle of this whole series. The first episode the King is a waste of time and I won't bother reviewing that episode. However the Shredder Strikes 1 and 2 are off the meter. Everyone assumes the Shredder is dead and the foot are beaten. Until Leo goes for a training run and is ambushed. Unlike the ninjas of old, Leo is being pummeled by the Shredder Elite, his deadliest ninjas by far. Desperately fighting on the run Leo is eventually beaten half to death. And his ... Read More

Although this DVD did NOT have any special features different from the ones on previous DVDs, it has what I think are some of the best episodes released so far. The alternative ending for "Kirby" was more of an ending than the TV version, if that makes any sense. Although the 2-part "Shredder Strikes Back" episodes are somewhat violent, and at times even morbid (esp. pt 1), the excellent humor makes the fighting and tension less tedious, while not distracting us from the main plot. And just when things ... Read More
