In scoring this cult TV hit, Fred Mollin exhibits a flair for the bombastic and the subdued. The two extremes often battle for dominance within his synthesized orchestrations--one minute, tempestuous strings and brass surge and monstrous percussion pounds ferociously only to give way to a delicate piano or harp melody. It's an appropriate sonic clash for a series about a blood-sucking detective with a soft spot for humanity. Within this intense maelstrom of sound, however, Mollin finds order and balance with a consistent ebb and flow in drama and dynamics. In spite of its obvious synthetic qualities, Forever Knight is a dramatic illustration of the potency of electronic scores in the TV realm. Toronto torch singers Lori Yates and Molly Johnson also appear. --Bryan Reesman

This CD is pretty good. I dont much care for the instermental music because its pretty cheesey. I love the singing parts of the CD it is very hypnotic. I wish there was more singing. Since I bought it for just those songs. Those songs make it a good CD.

Since that moment when, one night several years ago I discovered a TV series on vampires and I watched the interaction between some of the best characters that I've ever seen on TV: Nick, Lacroix, Janette, Natalie, Schanke, while playing on the background or listening to the Main Theme Title, I could listen to the music of the great composer Fred Mollin, I was immediatly captured and I became a fan of Forever Knight.

Fred Mollin's first volume of scores and songs from the cult hit TV series FOREVER KNIGHT is terrific. Mollin's score is fast-paced, and occasionally dramatic, not to mention mystical; there is also a bunch of excellent songs sung by Lori Yates (featured on the TV show playing in the Raven bar). I'm delighted to see these 2 discs here, because I think Fred Mollin's stylish and versatile work for "Forever Knight" has been criminally overlooked, and deserves a much wider audience. Here you get the best of it: not only his dramatic, atmospheric orchestral suites for some of the best episodes in the series, but also four gorgeous, dark-romantic pop songs that could have been massive hits for someone (Bonnie Tyler, say, or Heart...) had fate been kinder.
