JFK: A Presidency Revealed delves unflinchingly into the presidency of John F. Kennedy, examining the political crises, social unrest, and personal intricacies that marked his administration. What makes this three-part series stand out is its willingness to admit Kennedy's faults--in particular his troubled marriage, his infidelities, his illnesses, and his sometimes-excessive use of painkillers to cope with the pain of his bad back--as well as the missteps of his presidency, providing a strikingly balanced and human portrait of this all-too-often-mythologized president. You get a lot for your money here: "insider" footage showing the Kennedy family at home, coupled with very insightful, and even sometimes unsparing, comments about the 1000 days from people who saw it happen.
I enjoyed the "extra" documentary about his father, too. Understanding Joseph Kennedy helps explain what drove JFK to the places he attained in our history. His impatience and sanguinity about human nature, coupled with a nagging sense of "realpolitik" etched his reputation. ... Read More

Being a product of the 50's-60's I have to say JFK was the times.Anyone who has an affinity to this era has to have this DVD as it personifies the dream that could have been.

JFK - A Presidency Revealed (History Channel) is a very warm look at John F. Kennedy. It certainly tells about a man, not the myth that has become associated with JFK. If one has been focusing on only the assassination, one should make a point of seeing this. The country lost a President that day, but it also lost a special man. See this and get to know the man.

I'm sick of the parasites that try to make a living off a great president. Where did David Taylor get such details? I'm sure in his mind. I would like to know the references in which he got his information, maybe from Jack's brother Frado (Ted). It's sad that instead of making a documentary with the focus of the inspiring way he was changing The United States for the good and involving the youth who would eventually run it, the focus instead is somehow he was HIGH the whole time he was in office. ... I am very impressed with this documentary on JFK, as I feel I have seen and heard it all before. Well, I was wrong---this 40th aniversary documentary is amazing; never-before-or-rarely-seen films and photos and good, balanced analysis. Get this a.s.a.p.!!!!!!!
