Throughout the ups--the multi-platinum success of 1991's Out of Time--and downs--the abrupt 1997 departure of original drummer Bill Berry--of their Warner Brothers years, R.E.M. has consistently illustrated their music with something more substantial than simple performance promos. In View boasts 22 videos, 16 interview and performance snippets from throughout their career, and three songs recorded live in London in 2001. Highlights include the Western movie motif of "Man on the Moon," introspective traffic jam of "Everybody Hurts," and fanciful animation of "I'll Keep the Rain (starring a sleepy-eyed, button-nosed pup with crown of gold). This DVD contains some of the videos made during R.E.M.'s period with Warner Brothers. The technical quality of the DVD is quite good but over three-quarters of the songs on this DVD are bad songs. I think Bad Day, Man on the Moon, Everybody Hurts, Losing My Religion, Stand, and Orange Crush are all good to great songs, and What's the Frequency Kenneth is a decent song. Unfortunately, the rest of the DVD is album filler.

In a vast, and eclectic collection of REM's greatest hits, the videos emote what REM has stood for all these years. The music. Though fully formed thoughts that went into videos like "bad Day" and "imitation of Life" balance well against the morning and lathargic feel of "E-bow the Letter", "Nightswimming" and "At my Most Beautiful". what else is there to say. If u are a fan of R.E.M. and their videos, then you probably already have it. If u dont, what are you waiting for. Only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because a couple of my favs, (Near Wild Heaven, Radio Song) wasnt included. But you can get those and more on the dvd This Film is On.

So i am super glad i bought this. This DVD will definitly stay in my collection for a while. It is great! It shows REM's different varieties. REM is my favorite band, and this DVD just makes my life complete. Not to mention MICHAEL STIPE IS THE SEXIEST MAN ALIVE!!!! So if you love REM and love Michael, then this is for you.
