I like Danny Kaye's humor and comedic acting abilities. He was truly a genius and a triple threat; singing, acting, dancing. I purchased the DVD since it's rare to find these types of classic comedies on cable. The Inspector General was one that I saw MANY years ago and remember how much I liked it. the Inspector general made me laugh when this first came out in 1949 and it makes me laugh today. This is my all-time favorite Danny Kaye movie that even children today continue to enjoy over and over.
The picture quality was a bit grainy, but for the money it is still a great buy. If you're just going to watch it once or twice this should be fine, but if you are a big fan & will watch it repeatedly then I would probably recommend the higher quality version already recommended by another reviewer. ... Danny Kaye is one of America's gifts to the world. In Inspector General, we have one of his funniest movies, where a sequence of mistaken identities is parlayed into a hilarious farce. Other movies have tried the same, but none with greater success!
