Editorial Review:
Product Description: Two young couples take a misguided tour onto the back roads of America in search of a local legend known as Dr. Satan. Lost and stranded, they are set upon by a bizarre family of psychotics. Murder, cannibalism, and sataninc rituals are just a few of the 1000+ horrors that await.
Amazon.com: It's sick! It's twisted! It's House of 1,000 Corpses, and it's more fun than a wholesome bowl of "Agatha Crispies"! Dropped by two studios (Universal and MGM) and doomed to obscurity until Lions Gate Films gave it a limited theatrical release, Rob Zombie's gonzo horror flick is a blood-spattered throwback to the gore-fests of the '70s, lending new meaning to the term "box-office gross." Most critics misunderstood this unbridled exercise in graphic style and violence, but for devoted horror buffs it's a refreshing rebuttal to the comparatively "polite" frights of the post-Scream era. While paying homage to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Last House on the Left, Motel Hell, and other gory classics, Zombie's ramshackle plot (two young couples are terrorized by an inbred family of homicidal maniacs) lacks a crucial sense of dread, but his pastiche of vivid colors, grainy fetish-films, and photo-negative imagery is guaranteed to hold your attention. A bona-fide cult item, this House is definitely worth a visit... if you dare. --Jeff Shannon

House of 1000 Corpses has to be my favorite horror film to date. It has originality along with a cast of colorful and crazy characters. I am baffled by some of the negative reviews regarding this movie. People who didn't like it must be the soft, sensative type that only love cheesy horror movies like Hocus Pocus. This movie is not for the squeemish or faint hearted. It is very graphic and deals with a family of twisted killers in the 1970's who torture their victims in their rundown shack. It has ... I enjoyed the DVD of this title very much.
Unlike many people I talk to, I thought it was a great ride.
BUT....I am guessing it wasn't Robs choice to remove the Sid Haig menu intro from the bluray version (which is probably the most talked about part of the film)
I recieved the bluray today and was very disappointed to see that his hilarious intro was removed from this version.
BUMMER!

If you are a horror movie fan, this movie is for you! A kind of Texas Chainsaw massacre family, but with alot more thrills. It is fun to watch, very entertaining, gory, kookie, graphic. Characters are awesome!

The other night Sid started backwards by watching Devil's Rejects before it's predecessor House of 1000 Corpses. Thanks yet again to our on-demand station that made this one came available while all the characters were still fresh on the mind. Have to say despite a lot of the reviews this was one very creepy flick that takes place with a very uncomfortable situation. That situation would be getting stranded in some hick town to be welcomed in by a family that turns out to be serial killers also housing ... Read More

Rob Zombie's first foray into horror moviemaking as director and creator is a little piece of bloody heaven. While some say the flick is too campy, the origination of the Firefly family that continues into The Devils Rejects is pure sublime pagan slasher fantasy. When four unsuspecting young adults stumble onto this cannibalistic family in search of the legendary Dr. Satan, the film spirals into its awesome culimantion with two of the coolest villians - and one of the greatest extended B-movie horror ...
