great documentary on a unique mind. Wesley will suprise you, and so will the poeple in his life.

I bought the dvd figuring "what could be funnier the a fat schizophrenic?" boy was I wrong, it's not very funny at all. In fact it's quite serious, there are moments that are very funny but Wesley Willis was quite smart and thoughtful. it is like bevis and butthead remaking the movie rainman.

i thought a lot about the audience sensitivity to Wes' illness, or lack thereof, when my band was on tour with Wesley in 2000. Wesley himself would play up the "freak" aspect of his stage persona to work the crowd. He made a lot of money doing that. Walking around with wads fo cash, thousands of dollars sometimes. Wes was conscious of what he was doing but it was a post-Howard Stern-appearance era for him, so there wer lots of morons at his shows screaming for the mullet song and just acting like ... Read More
