The promise of this game is good. The reality of it is disappointing, as the hundreds of other reviews here will tell you. They're all correct. Rarely does a toy underperform this badly and get away with it for so long. If you already own this toy, or you REALLY want to get it and have it work, I wrote an article on how to hack your Elefun to work the way it ought to:

What a great game for pre-schoolers! We love this game at my house. My 7 year old still enjoys it and my 2 year old goes crazy for it!

My 6 year old saw this on a TV ad and wanted it for his birthday. This toy cannot be played without any adult or older kids around. It is too difficult for them to put back all the butterflies in the toy for just another 30 seconds of fun. The Elefun has a fan at the bottom that blows the ribbonlike fabric butterflies along its plastic trunk to the top. I like the concept of the machine - but it could be FASTLY improved by adding a loading feature on the side of the unit. Don't expect this to babysit your child it is a very quick game. I think the poor reveiws are due to the fact that it does not come with many buterflys making it over quite quickly and the fact that you have to pull the trunck off to reload is a factor - cause you doing that every 20 seconds. My four year old twins like this game, however it takes really fresh, good quality batteries to even get the butterflies out. Also, the butterflies fly out in about 15 seconds and then you have to refill it and that takes a couple of minutes. This toy need constant supervision until you teach the kids how to refill it. Pretty dissapointing considering the upper end price.
