Amazon.com Review: Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance brings the MK series a new 3-D fighting engine, adds tons of features and extras, and still offers classic gameplay.
This installment introduces a 3-D battle system that still manages to maintain a 2-D feel. For example, pushing up on your controller makes you sidestep your opponent's attacks, yet it also allows you to jump by tapping up plus a direction. A revamped fighting system offers up to three different fighting styles for each fighter (one includes a weapon technique). The multiple styles provide countless variations of attacks for any given fighter. Different combinations of punches and kicks allow for lengthy and powerful chain attacks similar to the Mortal Kombat of old. Fatalities are also back and are rich in graphic representation.
New fighters join the cast of old favorites such as Sonya, Kano, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Scorpion, Johnny Cage, Jax, Cyrax, Kung Lao, Kitana, Quan Chi, Reptile, and Shang Tsung. The lavish environments surround your fighters with animated backgrounds and rich skylines. On some levels there are even breakable objects and hazards that you can interact with, such as pools of acid--the perfect landing place for a thrown opponent.
In addition to regular modes of gameplay (arcade, versus, etc.) there is an option called Konquest mode. This mode allows you to learn more about fighting styles, read up on each character's personal history, and gain Koins which can then be spent in the Krypt to unlock a host of new characters, costumes, and early concept drawings. The additional content offered with this title is plentiful, including "The Making of Deadly Alliance" and "The History of Mortal Kombat" featurettes.
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance successfully reinvents the series by dishing up a unique mix of improved graphics and stylized gameplay without compromising those features that made the MK series popular in the first place. --Carlos Rodela

I know its been awhile since MKDA been out, but I'm making a review anyway.
This game was well thought out and the story was well planned. It actually had a plot to it.
The combo moves were great in it, the weapons were a good idea, all the characters had a background story to it, the fatalities were good, But the best part was this new idea of Shoving, Power-ups, Escaping, and the best part Reversals. Doing reversals was so much fun, and so beautifully timed to.

Mortal Kombat- Deadly Alliance
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance is the fifth installment in the main Mortal Kombat series. This would be the first game to appear on the PS2, X-Box, and Gamecube so they needed a bang to ensure the continued success of the series. The game is made as if it was an arcade game, but has so many extras it will blow your mind. I want to say there are over 800 extras to unlock. Still, the game doesn't impress me enough to give it anything but a little above average.

I thought that this game would be like the original Mortal Combat, but i was disappointed. The graphics are good, but it is really boring on career mode, and very difficult to unlock new characters.

Deadly Alliance was the first new outing for Midway with sixth generation systems PS2 and Xbox. The game adds new features to the Mortal Kombat franchise and has a ton of replay value with loads of extras including unlockable secret characters, bonus art, and the groundbreaking Konquest mode. In comparison to Deception and Armageddon, Deadly Alliance just seems better and more original. It doesn't suffer from badly implemented new features present in Deception and contrived storylines present in Armageddon. ... Read More
