Editorial Review:
Album Description: The final studio release to bear The Monkees' name until their mid-'80s comeback! This 1970 release features Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones-the only two group members left at that point. The CD version includes deluxe packaging, newly penned liner notes, and three rare bonus tracks!

Mike Nesmith's 1970 exit didn't stop Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones from fulfilling their Monkees contract. The result was "Changes," a mediocre pop-rock effort with few bright spots. However, it's not the "cardboard tombstone" some critics have claimed. "Oh My My" (the album's only single) is a terrific rocker sung with gusto by Dolenz, who also rises to the occasion on "Midnight Train" and "I Love You Better." Jones' ballads remain as schmaltzy as ever, but he delivers a lively "99 Pounds." Though ... Read More

This album sucked when it was first released. It sucked when expanded and remastered in 1994 and will continue to suck until eternity. If we are ever attacked by space invaders playing any track of this disaster will surely repel them.

Changes is thirty-one minutes and was released in June of 1970. Of all The Monkees studio albums, this was the only one not to chart. So The Monkees became a duo which consisted of Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz. Most of the songs on this album were songs that were recorded earlier and were not used on other albums. ... Read More

True, this is where the Monkeemobile runs out of gas.
But still, there's a 1970 hit single hiding in here. "Oh My My" ranks up there among the Monkees' best and best-known hits. A real toe-tapping tune, one that Monkees fans wouldn't be embarrassed to play for nonbelievers. Without identifying it as a Monkees track, I played the song for a friend who hates Micky and Company. She was literally shaking her groove thang---until I identified the artists. If they would've paired this with "Lady ... Read More

This is a very underrated album. I understand that Peter and Mike are missing but give it a chance- great songwriting-great singing- and great instrumentation. Actually, it's one of my favorites next to Pisces.
