Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
Bruce Lee's life, philosophy, and final film are examined in this reverent documentary, which traces the master's path through the development of his own style, his battles with mainstream Hollywood and martial arts traditionalists, and his emergence as the world's top box-office draw. Just as interesting as Lee's life is the chance to see lost footage from The Game of Death, Lee's final, unfinished film. Outtakes offer the opportunity to see Lee's perfectionism in action, and the reconstructed storyline reveals how Lee's personal martial arts philosophy shaped the film. And yes, there is a spectacular nunchakau fight. Interviews with Lee and those close to him highlight his energy, intelligence, and remarkable charisma. Fans of Lee will welcome this new insight into his filmmaking, and those unfamiliar with his life and work will come away with a new respect. The DVD includes a Lee filmography, the theatrical trailer for The Game of Death, and audio commentary by the director. --Ali Davis

Description:
Bruce Lee was an enigmatic, legendary figure at the time of his death in 1973. His popularity has never waned and this 2001 documentary on the black belt movie star attempts to explain some of his magnetic appeal. Included in this biographical film is footage of The Game of Death, the film that Lee was involved in at the time of his death. Pieced together by Lee aficionado John Little, the film's finale is a flurry of images of the master in action for over 30 minutes.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I was furious at Hollywood after I saw this
I viewed this DVD and was furious. We had been duped. We had been had by the narrow minds and heads of the people who edited the feature. It was the game of death and the audience was cheated. This behind the scenes look into the mind of Bruce Lee and his vision shows that the directors and producers did not share either. Anyone who has watched the Game of Death and said, "WTH?" should watch this.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - The Real "Game of Death"
Though "A Warrior's Journey" provides an insightful overview of Bruce Lee's life and art, the unfinished "Game of Death" remains the documentary's focal point. For years, martial-arts aficionados have debated the merits of Lee's ambitious project, which died with him in 1973. Based on Lee's notes, historian John Little has painstakingly assembled the existing 32 minutes in the context that Lee intended. The surviving remnants from "Game of Death" display Lee's maturity as a filmmaker and martial ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Don't bother with this.
Fifty bucks? Are these sellers kidding?

Don't get me wrong. Of all the documentaries made about Bruce Lee over the past 30+ years, this one is by far the most essential. Not only is it an insightful look into Lee's life, it also (rather famously) offers rare footage of the scenes HE HIMSELF filmed for Game Of Death. All things considered, this documentary is every bit as essential as his four REAL films.

That said, the reason this DVD went out of print is because it's now ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good Documentary!

I own this DVD and I really enjoyed it. If you are a Bruce Lee fan you should buy this DVD.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Amazing Documentary
Besides containing some really interesting points on Bruce Lee's personal philosophies, it also contains a lot of footage from his Game of Death movie. This footage is not only exciting action-wise, but contains the subtle humor that I've come to love in all Bruce Lee movies. The first half of the documentary is about his philosophies and how they came to change throughout his life. This half contains footage from interviews and his earlier movies, which interesting narration. As said earlier, ... Read More
