Editorial Review:
Product Description: The Powerpuff Girls make their first appearance on the Game Boy Color with POWERPUFF GIRLS: Bad Mojo Jojo. You take the role of Blossom, who is known for her intelligence. Blossom must punch and kick her way through levels filled with puzzles that need solving, and she's got to collect all of the icons in each level. Some of them are power-ups that allow Blossom to use an ice beam to temporarily freeze her enemies, while others are artwork that can be traded between the three POWERPUFF GIRLS games. Ultimately, Blossom must come face to face with her nemesis, Mojo Jojo. Will Blossom be able to save Townsville from certain doom? Find out by playing POWERPUFF GIRLS: Bad Mojo Jojo.
Amazon.com Review: The slogan on the box says, "Powerpuff Girls are saving the world before bedtime." Bad Mojo Jojo's repetitive gameplay, however, will put some gamers to sleep well before that time.
Based on the Cartoon Network series, this title spotlights Blossom, the pink-clad leader of the Powerpuff Girls. The dilemma facing the girls at the start of the game is that Mojo Jojo has kidnapped the girls' mentor, Professor Utonium. Blossom must battle Bratty Little Princess, Roach Coach, and eventually Mojo Jojo himself (hence the game's name) to save the brave professor.
The idea behind the game is to run or fly around the professor's home and lab, collecting all the goodies that the various robbers dropped in their hasty ransacking of the place. The items consist of treasure, special graphic cards of Blossom & Co., and health power-ups.
Some simple puzzle solving is required to finish this game, but that really takes second fiddle to honing one's exploration skills and reaction timing. Even without reading the manual--and who does nowadays?--most will quickly figure out where they're going and what they've got to do.
If this series has a singular hook, it is that all three of the girls' games can be linked though the GBC's vastly underutilized infrared port. Whatever is collected in one cartridge can be sent over to another. In this way, players who work together can more quickly gather all the cool collectibles in the game and get further ahead in less time. It's too bad the makers didn't spend a little more time putting a game together that was stylish to look at and engaging to play. --Todd Mowatt
Pros: - Some cool tech and marketing features
Cons: - Repetitive gameplay
- Small, simple character design poorly conveys the cartoon's unique aesthetic
Amazon.com Product Description: The Powerpuff Girls 1: Bad Mojo Jojo features clever Blossom as she evades and traps enemies, while the other two girls are in reserve for super attacks. The side-scrolling game has multiscreen maps with hidden areas. Our hero dodges obstacles, collects power-ups, destroys enemies, rescues friends, and ultimately fights the featured villains to save Townsville. The villainous Mojo Jojo, Bratty Little Princess, and Roach Coach all reflect brains over brawn, which requires Blossom to utilize strategies other than a full frontal attack. Players can collect and trade electronic game cards between two copies of the game via the separately sold Game Boy Link Cable, as well as engage in two-player head-to-head action. Secret passwords unlock new game features, including trading cards and hidden powers.

This is the 1st awesomest game of the powerpuff girls and all three are really good!!! Buttercup should be the president of the whole world...

I got this game for Christmas 2000 and was quickly disappointed. I don't demand great graphics from a GBC game, but this one's graphics aren't even marginally good. What's the point of playing a Powerpuff Girls game when the characters are barely even recognizable?
Gameplay stinks, too. The characters' attacks are monotonous, and the game consists entirely of exploring flat, side-scrolling locations and beating up bad guys. You're also supposed to pick up items along the way, but those ... Read More

This Powerpuff Girls game is not like the episodes. All you do is go around collecting girly stuff and the same thing. And you get lost in the Bonsai Garden level. And the people and the villains are so easy to beat all it takes is ten hits out of all the villians and 2 hits out the same ones you fight in every level. When i first heard of this game I thought it was going to be fun.But no this game is not very fun.And all three of the games on Gameboy color are all the same and the same levels in each ... This game is neat (especially for me, because i'm a blossom fan) for die-hard fans, although the graphics could be worked on, the ability to change into other powerpuff girls, rowdyruff boys, and the mayor is neat (personally I like to fly around as the mayor), but if you like games with terribly great graphics then don't get it :)
