Amazon.com Review: Scooby Doo! Classic Creep Capers is a single-player game in which the goal is to solve three mysteries (two of them based on classic episodes; the other is all new). You play the game as Shaggy while Scooby-Doo tags along, nipping at your heels as you move around the game's various levels. The graphics are completely cartoon-style, and the game is played from a third-person perspective.
Nobody actually dies in this game, which is good. So, instead of the life meter common to most adventure games, Classic Creep Capers has a courage meter, which lets you know how much more fright Shag and Scoob can stand without bolting out of the level and having to start anew. Each time something scares them--which happens pretty frequently--they lose some of their courage, and the game pauses to feature a shake animation.
The gameplay is very straightforward--sometimes inanely so. What you're asked to do is move Shaggy through each level, picking up clues and various other items that can be used to trap the villainous level bosses. You can't proceed from one level to the next until you've picked up everything.
While unraveling these mysteries, players use the A button for practically everything. The player presses it to search for things, pick up items, and to talk to people. The only other button used is the R button, which opens up the game's menu screen. It's just a matter of tapping the A button to activate a particular item and use it or give it to the gang to help solve the mystery. It's all very simple, which turns out to be one of the game's strengths.
Although the idea of unmasking fake ghosts will no doubt appeal to the Saturday-morning nostalgia of older gamers, this game is aimed squarely at the younger set in both its content and gameplay. --Todd Mowatt
Pros: - Graphic style is true to the source material
- Simple, straightforward controls
Cons: - Voice-overs are lacking, with too much emphasis placed on Scooby's own skeletal sound bytes
- Experienced gamers will find this game unchallenging

This Scooby-Doo game is fun, but Shaggy gets scared way too much, and by almost everything! He even got scared by some fake moving waves and palm trees in the third level. Also, it is hard to control Shaggy when he is skiing in the second level. All in all, it is a great game, staying true to the classic Scooby characters. It is fun because it challenges your mind, and is full of twists and detective work. If you are a true blue of Scoob and the gang I'm sure you'll love this game!

This is a great game to play with children under 6. Although it is a one player game, my daughter loves to watch me play it, and I enjoy it as well. It is very different from most other video games that she and my son play; it has a narrative plot and the operator is charged with successfully solving 4 mysteries at 4 different locations: Museum, Ski Lodge, Tropical Island, Castle. Several of the reviews I read stated that there were 3 mysteries. Keep trying!

I got this game for my birthday and I liked it a lot. The reason is I like things to do with Scooby Doo. Its challenging for little kids, but little kids who love Scooby Doo will really love this game. I mean it will be their favorite Nintendo 64 game. I really injoyed it. 2 thumbs WAY WAY UP!!!!!

I bought this game because my daughter is a BIG Scooby fan but sadly she and i were disappointed. For one, she's 5 and she can't read subtitles! Not to mention that even i, who is pretty good at playing these games, couldn't figure it out! Maybe if they would have developed it with sound it would help to figure out what your supposed to do and where. They need to take this one back to the drawing board.

This is the worst N64 game I've ever played, and we have over 50. It's even worse than Superman 64 if you can imagine that. The controls are horrible. It's nearly impossible to move Shaggy around because the character won't respond, and every few seconds the camera shifts angles and (get this) you have to let go of the control stick before the controls will adjust to the new camera view, so you're spending about half of your time going in the wrong direction. I had to buy this game because it ... Read More
