This is a wonderful release and essential for any fan of sci-fi television music, as it shows the talent that went into scores a few decades ago (as opposed to some of the dreck we get on TV these days). The recordings are beautifully preserved, and the choice of scores excellent. While it's always nice to hear early scores by John Williams, the real treasure here is Herman Stein's music from the episode THE DERELICT. While Richard LaSalle and Hans J. Salter also contributed to this score, it's ... Read More

What a treasure this CD holds for the Lost in Space (as well as John Williams) fan! While the other 2 CDs had bits and pieces of various Lost in Space episodes, this has the complete sound track for two episodes. Probably the best Lost in Space episode ever, My Friend Mr. Nobody shows the innocence of a child's life and love in a friend that no adult cast member believes existed. When you add in John William's masterful and heartwarming score to this episode, you can't help yourself from feeling youthful ... Read More

Thanks to the reviewer who cleared up the mystery of the variant music for "The Reluctant Stowaway" - it was like the "Shaft" soundtrack difference in reverse, only in the case of that epic music it was a good thing the movie version wasn't used! However, not enough of John Williams's excellent score was used on any of these 3 soundtracks, and I fail to understand why, including the lack of the introductory music over the episode title credits. I thought "Derelict" referred, for once, to that 39-second ... Read More

In some ways, this CD surpasses Volumes 1 and (especially) 2 of the music from Lost In Space. All the memorable pieces of music are here, themes repeated again and again throughout the series. It's wonderful to hear the ideas fleshed out and developed completely. John Williams score for "My Friend, Mr. Nobody" holds up particularly well on it's own. And the score from "The Derelict", while not penned by Williams, contains many signature LIS themes, including the "Family" (which I used to call the "sad" music). ... Read More

The first CD had wonderful tracks, but due to GNP's desire to squeeze three episodes on one CD, they left out a lot of score. Also, Reluctant Stowaway was not the version heard on TV, but an "alternate" version recorded at the time by Lionel Newman. Great stuff, but there were disappointing factors. Volume 2 was just plain ..., with some really awful music from really awful episodes (except the the season 3 theme...woth the price of the CD).
Now with volume 3, not only do we get great music, we get all ... Read More
