Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Simply laughable
Seriously, you're gonna laugh at this movie. I mean, John Wayne, of course, is a great and legendary actor, but him as Genghis Khan? GENGHIS KHAN?! What the hell?! It's a completely horrible performance. In fact, almost everyone in this film gives a horrible performance. The acting is so bland and so outrageous, that I can't help but close my eyes and cover my ears with earplugs. And part of this monstrosity is because of the script. God, this is such horrible writing! It's as if a deformed penguin ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - ONE OF THE WORST MOVIES EVER
A 50's horse western set in outer Mongolia.

I cannot decide what is more absurd -- John Wayne plaving Genghis Kahn or having Genghis Khan portrayed by John Wayne ???

Makes my top 10 worst movie list of all time. Right up there with The Ten Commandments.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - What was Duke thinking?
The first time I saw this film on television around 1991, I was watching it with a girlfriend and as the opening scene rolled and John Wayne's named appeared over the mongol hoards she asked, "Isn't this a different kind of role for him?" We both laughed ourselves silly over the incredibly campy dialog and the sight of Duke in his ridicules costumes uttering lines like "Death come's not easy to me" and "Yer bee-oo-ti-full in yer wrath" I highly recommend this film as one of the funniest, (though unintentionaly ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?" MESS - WONDERFUL!
One of the great absurd movies of all time! A KNEE SLAPPER!!! Not a dull moment, as everyone involved makes fools of themselves in every moronic scene. Five Stars (*****) for the laughs it inspires - It's one of those, "What were they thinking?" movies. The dialogue is a SCREAM!
It's lavish for RKO (in a cheap sort of way) - And is said to be one of Mr.(NUTTY) Hughes' favorite flicks (watching it naked, over & over - on a strict candy-bar diet).
Most of the unfortunate cast died of some sort of the ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Unfairly ridiculed film...
I completely agree with the most recent review. This is not a bad movie at all. John Wayne is physically right for the part and looks great in the period costumes but he can't deliver the lines to save his soul. The rest of the cast has no
problem with this, however, and Susan Hayward certainly never looked more gorgeous. Elaborate sets and costumes, a cast of thousands, and a great Victor Young score (one of his last) all add up to a very entertaining film.
The CinemaScope photography is also outstanding. ... Read More
