Honk! Honk! It's gridlock and the little red car can't move. The player is a traffic cop in the Rush Hour Traffic Jam Puzzle where the objective is to get the red car off the road. To play, pick one of 40 challenge cards; solutions are printed on the back of each card. Then set up the cars and buses in a specified pattern on the 6-inch-square road grid. Move the vehicles one by one (obey those traffic laws!) until the red car can escape the traffic jam. There are four levels of difficulty. Kids can alternate turns with another player or just "play in traffic" alone. The game from Binary Arts received a national award from Mensa and is used in elementary school math classes. The design includes clear instructions printed on the sturdy box, which can be used both as a playing tray and for storage. The game cards stow away in a drawer in the road grid. I thought I should drop a few lines and tell you how much my 9 year old nephew loves this game. Honestly, we didn't know about the game until he was put in pedi-ICU at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. This game is very appealing to boys because it has cars, but also very educational because it is puzzles to solve which uses reasoning! My son (5)has the JR. version and really likes it! It also comes with a storage bag that I love and its easy to take with you.

My 8 year old son played this at school and loved it. It keeps him occupied for at least an hour. He went through the first pack of cards in 2 weeks so I ordered 3 more packs. Very easy to set-up, pack-up, take in the card etc. Some of the puzzles are even challenging for adults! It can be a fun family game as well. If my son is stuck, Mom, Dad or brother usually try to give ideas. I would highly recommend it for problem solving skills.

You setup cars & trucks in predetermined positions according to pictures that come with the game, and have to get the red car to drive out of the grid. Good at helping to develop strategy skills. Good for one player, but okay for two - my wife and I work on them together. The game itself is durable - only downside is that the game comes with 40 cards, 10 each of Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert.
