Well, this was the Monkees second album, and it shot straight up to number 1, knocking their first album (which still held that spot) to number 2. However, as most people know the album was pretty much made by Don Kirshner, and as the story goes, the Monkees didn't even know the album was out, until they saw it at a store. They had virtually no imput, and their vocals were pretty much their only involvement. Despite all of this, it's a very solid selection of songs. Some songs are not the greatest, ... Read More

This cd brings back so many fond memories. It was very powerful at the time of its release - powerful for a seven year old, that is. The songs hold up extremely well, even today. With some of the best song writers of the day working for them like: Neil Sedaka, Neil Diamond, Boyce & Hart, Carol King, etc., how can you miss? Favorite songs include:Mary, Mary, Steppin' Stone, Look Out Here Comes Tomorrow and my all-time favorite: "I'm a Believer."

This was the Monkees second album. It was hastily slapped together to cash in on the Monkees growing popularity. It is definitely a mixed bag. I have been a fan of the Monkees for 15+ and I am 23. The Monkees second album is fantastic. Two of the highlights is the Kind Of Girl I Could Love by Nesmith and Auntie Grizelda by Tork. I own all of their original recordings on CD and some on LP. My fave Monkee is Nesmith. None of the albums that the Monkees do are bad. In fact they are fantastic.

Following the success of THE MONKEES (AKA Meet the Monkees), this follow-up album hit the stores an astonishing 3 months after the release of THE MONKEES. Unfortunately, they probably should have spent more time polishing the material, as the album sounds like it was thrown together in...well, 3 months. While there are great songs on the album, "She", "(I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone", "Mary Mary", and the ever-popular "I'm A Believer", the remaining songs on the album just don't live up to their potential. ...
