Product Description:
A plane crash in the freezing alaskan wilderness pits intellectual billionaire charles morse against self-satisfied fashion photographer robert green in a brutal struggle for survival. Each will soon discover that the greatest danger comes not from nature but from fear treachery and murder. Studio: Tcfhe Release Date: 12/14/2004 Starring: Anthony Hopkins David Mamet Run time: 120 minutes Rating: R

Amazon.com:
Writer David Mamet created two engrossing and memorable characters, played by Alec Baldwin as the urbane fashion photographer and Anthony Hopkins as a reserved and intellectual billionaire. They find themselves teamed up against a giant Kodiak bear, and their own inner demons, when lost together in the Alaskan wilderness. There is a lot going on in this picture, as the subject matter includes male rivalry, the isolationism of extreme wealth, and, most conspicuously, the survival of the fittest. Mamet's script, which sounds a little too arch in spots, is well served by New Zealand director Lee Tamahori, who knows how to capture beauty and brutality in one frame. Although the themes are enormous in scope, they are well balanced. One rarely overpowers the other, nor does the achingly beautiful scenery overshadow the acting. Even if you do not like the intellectualism of the dialogue, there are some great scenes with the bear. --Rochelle O'Gorman

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Edge
I love this movie. Very suspensful and action packed with beautiful scenes of Alaska. Add a ticked off Grizzly bear chasing the stranded folks, and it's a party. This movie will keep your attention. Very entertaining.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great movie purchase
Being a lover of Alaska, wildlife, and Anthony Hopkins, this movie is right up there with the best!! It is an edge of your seat movie, as you wait for the next thrilling moment, just knowing that something is getting ready to happen, keeps you ready for the next thrill. If you like thrillers, you will love this movie.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A little cheesy
I'd never heard of this. Was it any kind of a hit in theaters? I thought the bear scenes were a bit cheesy, especially when the bear lands on a spear wielded by 70-something Anthony Hopkins. Baldwin is his usual smarmy self. The whole thing is a little unrealistic, in that these guys would have frozen or starved to death long before they finally trap a squirrel, which they then don't bother to eat as they huff their way, barely clothed, often soaking wet, through Alaskan wilderness for mile after ... Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Adventure, Suspence and more
I spent a year in Alaska and I have some idea of what the weather and wildlife is like. At times the movie becomes too Hollywood, you know what is going to happen next. Most of the time you wonder what is going to happen next and how they will get out of their predicament.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A simply great film
Why this motion picture did not gain more attention is confusing.
Even the DVD is lacking in Extras and should have been a prime candidate for Commentary.
Anthony Hopkins can do no wrong.
Alec Baldwin is terrific and at his best.
The supporting cast of Mr. Perrinneau, Ms. MacPherson, Ms. Wilhoite, and Mr. Jones are superb.
All under the grand direction of Lee Tamahori who gives David Mamet's dialogue a run for the money.
It is an action tale. A story ... Read More
