Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: Unless you're a snob, a good Monkees collection belongs on your shelves, not too far from discs by the Turtles, the Lovin' Spoonful, and other avatars of clean, occasionally rocking '60s Top 40 pop. Greatest Hits is a more than generous stack, bringing together not only the obvious megahits ("I'm a Believer," "Pleasant Valley Sunday," the incredibly propulsive "Valleri") but also a number of tunes that had the bad luck to fall on the wrong side of the act's swift rise and fall. Foremost among these is "Porpoise Song," a lyrically incomprehensible Goffin/King stab at psychedelia that's at once a crass cash-in and one of the loveliest, most fragile sounds to emerge from the American hippie dream. --Rickey Wright
Album Description: Budget-priced, 20 track retrospective featuring '(ThemeFrom) The Monkees' and all 11 of their top 40 hits from the'60s: 'D.W. Washburn', 'Tapioca Tundra', 'Valleri','Daydream Believer', 'Words', 'Pleasant Valley Sunday','Last Train To Clarksville', 'I'm A

I got this CD just for kicks. There is a remake of one of their songs on the radio and remembering how much I loved their tv show I bought the real thing. I love it. It will be fun to throw an occassional Monkeys song into the playlist. Will it comes up between nirvana, white stripes, sting, the doors, bob dylan, green day, bonnie rait? who knows, but it will make people smile-cuz everyone used to love the Monkeys.
oh yeah, I like the CD just fine, quality sound (duh), good selection of ... Read More

Hey, hey it's the Monkees - how could it be bad? This isn't a necessary addition to my musical collection but it sure is fun!

I remember well the day that I was first introduced to the multi-talented Monkees (and, yes, I say that with utmost seriousness!--well, with my tongue slightly in cheek.) I must have been about seven years old, happened to be channel surfing, and low and behold, their television series had been syndicated and brought to our local network. I was immediately drawn into the high jinx of these four young fellows, circa 1960, getting into oodles of trouble and managing to come together for spontaneous ... Read More

Has all of their greastest hits. You could also go with The Best of The Monkees. It has pretty much the same songs.

The Monkees had an incredibly good sound and their musical legacy is a fine one. This CD gives us twenty tracks by The Monkees that proves their capability as musicians. They were one awesome group!
The CD starts with the theme from "The Monkees." This catchy tune has them harmonizing and the guitars, drums and percussion work very well. The beat shifts from time to time to make the song bouncy and energetic; it's a great song to start off the album. "Last Train To Clarksville" follows ... Read More
