Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - PURE AWSOMENEZ
A GREAT ALBUM FROM A GREAT BAND!! MANY DON'T REMEMBER, BUT THE MONKEES BESIDES BEING A POPULAR PRIME TIME TV. SHOW & AN AMAZING STUDIO BAND, THE MONKEES WERE A VERY SUCESSFULL SATURDATY MORNING TV SHOW IN RERUNS FROM 1969-1973 ON CBS & ABC NETWORK WITH MOST OF THE SONGS FROM THIS ALBUM OVERDUBBED OVER THE MONKEE ROMP SEQUENCE OF THE SHOW. THE SHOW & THE MUSIC STILL HOLD UP TODAY.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Worth it for "Listen To The Band"
Nesmith's "Listen To The Band" alone brings this otherwise OK late-sixties pop album up to three stars. Anyone else think it's interesting that this tune is usually presented in mono (the stereo version is the oddity) even on the stereo versions of the album? I view it as Nesmith's country-rock version of the "wall of sound." I also find it interesting that a tune like "St. Matthew" was omitted from this album in favor of the far weaker "Never Tell A Woman Yes."

The rest of the album ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great album... but you got it all wrong...
Everyone has been calling this album by the wrong name for years! It is not the "Monkees Present," it is the "Monkees Present Micky, David and Michael." This album was to showcase their individual talents and not as a collective group. I believe the original 60s album was going to be a two record set in which each member was going to have his own side of material, thus showing what he could do, but budget cuts reduced the project to a single LP. Am I right Micky, David and Michael? Thank you for your ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Half of a Fine Album
Somebody in an earlier review said he'd like to take a time machine back to 1969 to tell Micky Dolenz how great his song "Mommy and Daddy" was. Well, I'd like to hitch a ride on that time machine. Once in '69, I'd like to sneak into the Monkees' recording studio and splice half the tapes from "Instant Replay" onto half the selections from "The Monkees Present".

I'd pair great "Replay" tracks like "Someday Man", "Tear Drop City", "Through the Looking Glass", "You and I" and "I Won't Be ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Oklahoma Backroom Dancin' All Over the Bad Reviews!!
Just Nesmith's tunes alone make this 5 stars. I know that it's not Hey, Hey We're the Monkees, but it's still interesting music.
