Editorial Review:

Description:
This volume includes: "He's Alive" (Episode 106, January 24, 1963, 51 min.) - Peter Vollmer (Dennis Hopper), a small-time neo-Nazi leader, yearns for more power. Advised by a shadowy benefactor, Vollmer's followers grow, as does his ego. "From Agnes With Love" (Episode 140, February 14, 1964) - Wally Cox as computer technician James Elwood must deal with the queen of all femme fatales: a computer named Agnes who wreaks havoc on his love life. "Spur of the Moment" (Episode 141, February 21, 1964) - After being chased by a terrifying, unidentified figure in black, Anne Henderson (Diana Hyland) rushes home, where she soon must face the biggest decision of her life.

"He's Alive"
Dennis Hopper (Easy Rider, Blue Velvet) turns in a very powerful and charismatic performance as an American neo-Nazi, Peter Vollmer, bent on doing what he has to do in order to get his message of hatemongering across to the public. But there are some weaknesses in his past that need exorcising, it seems, when a shadowy Shickelgrüber begins to instruct the fledgling fascist in the ways of oratory, politics, and self-destruction. This is one of the one-hour episodes from the fourth season, but it never lags as some of the others do. Directed ably by Stuart Rosenberg, who went on to direct Cool Hand Luke, and featuring film director Paul Mazursky as one of the Nazis.

"From Agnes--with Love"
Comical episode starring Wally Cox as a computer programmer in charge of the world's most powerful electronic computer, Agnes. When the poor egghead's love life isn't going so hot, Agnes begins giving advice to the lovelorn. Only Agnes seems to have an ulterior motive. Cox is perfect as the nerdy scientist driven mad by a computer scorned. Directed by Richard Donner (Superman, Lethal Weapon).

"Spur of the Moment"
Beautifully told gothic horror tale written by Richard Matheson, who wrote a total of 14 Twilight Zone episodes. Whether one can change one's own past is the theme of this one. Out horseback riding, young Anne is chased by a black-clad figure (also on horseback), who lets out a bloodcurdling screech. The figure is Anne in her decrepit future, doomed to chase her younger self with a warning that will never be heard. --Jim Gay

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Rod Serling Masterpiece
I have a whole stack of episodes from this series.I wouldn't say every episode is brilliant, but some realy leave you thinking. Here is a good selection from the series.Makes me wonder at times where they got the ideas for these episodes. There is nothing quite like it on Tv these days, they rely too much on special effects rather than a good script and fine acting. The twists and turns to each episode keep you interested.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - People Confront Themselves and Their Creations
`HE'S ALIVE' is a good study of Fascism and Nazism and how it can affect an essential weak individual who carries strong inner hatreds which are probably aimed at himself but manifests that hatred towards others aided by the vision of Adolph Hitler. Denis Hopper is excellent as the figure with a spine of clay that elicits advice from his vision of Hitler played by Curt Conway. The choice of Conway was criticized for his lack of resemblance to Hitler. However, Conway's performance was right on target ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A great story starred by Dennis Hopper
These DVD features one the best episodes in the series and one of my personal favorites: "He's alive". It stars a 27 year old Dennis Hopper in a very interesting role: a young fascist emulating Hitler. Hopper's performance really shows things to come in his career, and the story written by creator Rod Serling is -tragically so- scary, and most of all a sad reality still among us... Two more episodes are included.
