Editorial Review:
Product Description: A RUTHLESS TV-NETWORK CHIEF MEETS THE GHOSTS OF CHRISTMASES PAST, PRESENT AND YET TO COME.
Amazon.com: Most critics couldn't get behind Bill Murray's modern retelling of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol, finding it too unfocused at times and not nearly wicked enough. Still, if you're a Murray fan, you have to enjoy his deliciously nasty portrayal of the world's meanest TV executive, who has his cathartic moment one cold Christmas night in New York City. The various ghosts lead him on a ghost-town tour of Manhattan, with stops at holidays past, present, and future and a Kumbaya moment when Al Green and Annie Lennox sing "Put a Little Love in Your Heart." The effects are otherworldly, but one wishes the writing were as sharp as Murray's edgy portrayal. --Marshall Fine

One of the great holiday movies to have a good laugh and celebrate the jolly season.

I like when Bill Murray was talking to a ghost for the first time and the ghost warned him that three ghosts were about to visit Bill Murray the next day and Bill Murray said "Maybe I can squeeze them in before breakfast!" which prompted the ghost to grab Bill Murray by the throat and dangle his body outside the building.
Other funny scenes-
- a young Bill Murray receives a pack of meat for Christmas during a "Ghost of Christmas past" moment.

Being a Gen X'er I saw this movie in the theaters when it came out and I just recently saw it again a few days ago, thus the reason for this review. I was originally skeptical about seeing a remake on an absolute masterpiece of a movie in the original. I thought to myself "I'm sure there will be lots of gee-whiz special effects, but how is it going to capture the spirit of the original?" Well they didn't capture the spirit of the original, despite the "gee-whiz" special effects.

A wonderful holiday movie that does a great job with a modern twist on the old Christmas Carol theme. Bill Murray is visited by the traditional ghosts but each ghost is nicely modernized. The film is an amazingly good film for the whole family.
