Description:
Gohan is kidnapped by mysterious warriors! As Goku rushes to save his son, it is revealed that the kidnappers are henchmen for Garlic Jr. who is trying to gather the seven Dragon Balls to realize his wish - immortality. Once immortal, Garlic Jr. intends to control the whole world with his evil power and seek revenge upon the human race and Kami for the death of his father. Unfortunately, Goku arrives at Garlic Jr.'s fortress just has Garlic Jr. summons the Eternal Dragon! Joined by Krillin and Piccolo, Goku challenges Garlic Jr., but Garlic Jr.'s power is too strong. He creates a dead zone (a black hole) to vacuum up our heroes, but suddenly, Gohan starts showing his hidden power!

This movie is pretty good overall. It is very heavy on action, which leaves the story line a little on the thin side. Not to say that it doesn't make sense. This movie actually could fit in to the story line better than some of the other movies. The basic story line involves a character named Garlic Jr. He wants to gather the Dragonballs to wish for immortality. I remember seeing this movie on Toonami twice a long time ago. It was pretty good of what I remember. It was edited for TV. I'd only go out and hunt for this DVD if want every DVD cause you're a collector or something. FUNimation is coming out with a new DVD for this movie with the GOOD voice actors and the ORGINIAL japanese version. It comes out May 31, 2005. Get that one instead if you want to see it. I just wanted to say that.

This is a pretty good movie, with good action and story. However, the english dub brings down he quality. Goku's voice is AWFUL! I'm glad FUNimation changed the voices when they took it over, becuase almost all the voices are bad. Gohan's is really the only voice I liked. When the voices in this movie say lines, they sound really corny. i bet if FUNimation had done the voices for this, it wouldn't have sounded corny. There's only so much story you can tell in a 45-minute movie and "Dragon Ball Z: The Movie- Dead Zone" proves this point. The plot is paper-thin and this movie is very heavy on action. To top it off, the animation really isn't all that great. I suppose there's some market for "DBZ," and perhaps I'm not one of them, but I feel like a story would've helped this mini-film a lot.
