Saccharine melodrama in which an actress in frank process of decadence is aided by a young architect who gets she resurges fro the ashes of the forgetfulness.
But is Bette Davis who once more, established the difference to earn herself the Academy Award in 1935 as Best actress.

I adore Bette Davis' films and this was one of my personal favorites. I'm honestly a little disappointed that there is about to be a third entry in the Bette Davis Collection from Warner Brothers and Dangerous is NOT included! It should have been released on DVD long ago but for whatever reason Warner (or somebody) is dragging their feet with restoring this one.

Bette Davis and Franchot Tone star in this early vehicle for Bette Davis entitled Dangerous. The plot moves along rather well even if it's a tad slow at times; and the convincing acting held my attention very well.
The action begins with Donald 'Don' Bellows (Franchot Tone) and his fiancée Gail Armitage (Margaret Lindsay) are out on the town and by chance Don notices the has-been actress Joyce Heath (Bette Davis). Joyce has fallen from fame because of a "jinx" that has somehow become ... Read More

I give this film 4 stars because though this is not an A-class drama, it is a beautifully done and concise piece of work with whatever shortcomings it has rescued by Bette Davis herself. She and the Irish maid are absolute scene stealers. A previous reviewer commented on how Miss Davis spent her life insisting she only won her oscar for this film because she'd been shorted the one she deserved for "of Human Bondage" the year before; I would agree this was a misconception on her part. Her perfomance ... Read More

Until the end of her life, Bette Davis believed that the Oscar she won for DANGEROUS (1935, Warners) was a consolation prize for not winning the year before for OF HUMAN BONDAGE (1934). I beg to differ. DANGEROUS is a terrific "B" programmer with a bravura performance by Ms. Davis. She plays Joyce Heath, a once-great stage actress and now an alcoholic on the skids. Wealthy playwright Dan Bellows (Franchot Tone) risks his own relationship with girl friend Gail (Margaret Lindsay) to back Heath in ... Read More
