Editorial Review:
Product Description: The television series that premiered in January 1971 had a short run of only three seasons but its popularity is in inverse proportion to its time on the air. Its fifty episodes were enough to garner fans that have remained loyal to the show for thirty years. Alias Smith and Jones: The Story of Two Pretty Good Bad Men showcases the episodes and provides a behind-the-scenes look at one of the last of televisions popular westerns.

This book is fantastic! The authors go into detail about each episode, describing them, and giving behind-the scenes info as well as insights and commentary. They also discuss the people involved with the show, with info from direct interviews as well as archival info, and give a lot of background info about the series and how it came to be. Pictures are of variable quality and all black and white, but the amount and quality of the text more than makes up for this. The book is one of the best ... Read More

This is a terrific tribute to a great series. The authors did a wonderful job. Not only is it an obvious labor of love, it's an excellently written and edited labor of love. Bear Manor publications tend to be a mixed bag. Often, good intentions are let down by poor execution. This is one book they should be proud to have published. I can't recommend this book highly enough.

"Alias Smith & Jones: The Story of Two Pretty Good Bad Men" is a superb history of the ABC-TV western that starred Pete Duel and Ben Murphy. This is not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill fan book with glossy, slick pages, huge pictures, and about as much text as you might find on a skeleton. Instead, the authors provided an extremely detailed look of the show with in-depth interviews of all the principal actors, producers, and editors. At 500 pages in length, this book is the best thing that you will ... Read More

This book reviews and chronicles every aspect of "Alias Smith and Jones", which, in my opinion, was one of the best television programs of the 1970s. The authors document each episode, include interviews of the stars and production staff and give an insight to the filming of the program.
I enjoyed immensely and will refer back to it when (hopefully) Universal Studios releases the second and third seasons on DVD. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the stars and the televison program.
