I am a collector of fine statues of Buddhas, Ganesh, etc. and when I received the Tara Box; I fell in love w/ it. The statue was intricate and beautiful. She is the female counterpart of the male Buddha, and she is so compassionate and protective. I have her in my bedroom. The box makes a neat little altar to protect the statue. The book has a brief history of her life and blessings.

The book is an enjoyable read about the history of Tara and includes a number of devotions that can be used. There is also advice on successful meditation. The box is gorgeous and can be used as a small shrine. The statue of Tara that is included has a lot of beautiful detail.

This boxed set is a perfect gift for friends (or yourself!) interested in Buddhist practice, especially for beginners. It concerns itself with Tara, a female buddha particularly associated with protection, healing, and long life.
