Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Even for Kevin Smith fans, this is nearly unreadable
I really wanted to like Batman: Cacophony. Like a lot of people who picked up this title, I am a huge Kevin Smith fan. I'm more of a fan of Smith himself (interviews, Evening Withs) than his actual work. His past jaunts into comics have been somewhat of a mixed bag for me. I enjoyed his Daredevil miniseries and some of the Green Arrow stuff, for example.

When this project was announced in the middle of '08, I was really looking forward to seeing how Kevin Smith tackles Batman. But I ...

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not worth the money for a graphic novel
I've been a huge Batman fan, and a Kevin Smith fan for years. As such, I was out of town on business and picked this up at a local Borders to read back at my hotel. Yes, everyone understands that different writers have different 'takes' on characters, but sometimes in these pages, I found myself thinking that Smith was writing what he was writing just to be different, with no real understanding of the characters at all (some of the Joker stuff is just ridiculous).

Still, my biggest ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A life time goal.
Reading Kevin Smith's Batman is an absolute pleasure in my opinion, he flows his stories on the page just as fluently as he does when working on screen. now I know that there are people who didn't enjoy this one because of Smith's predominant voice, but I however really enjoyed his form of satire enveloping what is usually considered to be a "dark" character. I found with things like the Dark Knight and Arkham Asylum(the video game) fresh in the media's minds that Cacophony provides a much needed catharsis, ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Kevin Smith's Batman
Not every Batman fan will love this book. That much is obvious, but if I've learned one thing about Batman fans it's that they will rarely agree on anything. As a character, Batman has gone through many changes in the past 70-odd years and that's given a lot of room for interpretation among his writers. Each writer that takes him on has a different Batman in his head and every fan that reads it has one too.

Kevin Smith's Batman is not my Batman, but I was willing to go along for the ride and I'm ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Suprisingly Good
This book turned out a lot better than I thought it would. I went to the bookstore and bought this, without reading about it. After I bought it I looked at the reviews. I saw it got 2 stars and was only 144 pages, so I was mad I paid $20 for I book I was probably going to fly threw and not even like. Wrong. I really enjoyed it, loved the villain "Onomatopoeia", and didnt fly threw it because it had more drawing panels per page and more words than the average graphic novel. A good read for a Batman fan.
