Product Description: Superstar Gary Frank joins writer Geoff Johns for a epic story teaming Superman with an adult version of the Legion of Super-Heroes. When he was a boy, Clark Kent was isolated and alone until he met this teen team from the 31st Century. Today, it's been years since Superman saw his childhood friends. Why haven't they returned to visit him? What's become of the symbol of Superman in the future? And just why is the future so dangerous for Superman? They warned him away, but now he's determined to help his friends -- even if it means his life!

If you are a fan of Superman, this is the story for you. Not many fans know about Superman's adventures as an adolescent with the legion of superheroes. This book brings you into Superman's world and makes you feel like you are watching the Superman movies. The characterizations are dead on and the art is just astounding.

WOW is all I can say about this imaginative tale of the teen-like Legion 'growing up', the prejudice, the struggle, etc. Borrowing it's plot from comic history and taking the reader to an Earth they've never seen (or imagined) Johns and Frank tell a warm story of 'What Happens Next'/'What Happened After' with the future Legion. Not sure if it was mentioned, but all covers (including variants) are displayed without cover text here, and most of the a beautiful. The story was great, I read it from cover ... Read More

Pros: Really enjoy Gary Frank's depiction of Superman - not all bulked up, ditches the bikini briefs costume. A good stand alone story; dealing with the concept of racism even 1,000 years in the future. No prior knowledge of the League required.
Cons: Doesn't add anything to the mythos of the League. Kind of retreads on older subjects (Clark Kent visiting as a kid). Underlying concept of feeling excluded seems a little forced.
Overall: A nice quick read in trade form. Some really ... Read More

As a child I grew up thrilling to the adventures of SuperBOY, as someone close my age I could identify with. But DC and in particular, John Byrne ruined the character when they took out Superman's Superboy past.
Now, without having had the thrill of being an actual costumed hero when
he was young, the new Superman is a humorless, dark somber character
like someone in Gothan City. In fact, Kal-el could put on Batman's
mask and no one would notice the difference.

I was not a child of the 80's so I did not know the true Legion until now. This is a great story and a very good starting point for anyone who wants to become fans of the Legion. Because of this I began following Superman's adventures in Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds (which is an awesome story, that I hope will finish soon) and now I'm preparing for the Return of Adventure Comics! The story outline has been said in other reviews so I won't go into it here, but I will say that it's a great one. Geoff Johns ... Read More
