Product Description: The talents responsible for some of Batman's greatest tales, Frank Miller (BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, Sin City) and Jim Lee (BATMAN: HUSH) team up for the first time to bring you Batman and Robin like you've never seen them before in this reinvention of these classic characters.
All hell breaks loose at the circus as Bruce Wayne and gal pal Vicki Vale witness a young boy's life shattered before their eyes. Orphaned, Dick Grayson has nowhere to go and no one to turn to -- no one but Bruce Wayne! Expect action, adventure, guest-stars and the unexpected as Miller and Lee deliver the ultimate tales of the Dynamic Duo!

I like Miller's earlier Dark Knight work quite a bit, and I have a soft spot for Sin City, too. This is just horrible writing, though. It has none of the freshness of his other Batman writing, and the dialogue here is beyond cheesy (at one point he refers to a thug as a "wad," an insult I haven't heard since I was maybe 10 years old). I suppose this is supposed to be edgy, but I'd rather read the most mediocre of the current Batman titles within the regular continuity than this vanity project gone ... Read More

I don't need to reiterate the many comments on how awful the writing, dialogue, plot and characterizations are in this mess (more than one character uses the term "queer" as a pejorative), but just know they are all correct. It's atrocious. It reads like it was written by an angry 12 year old.
But I'm in the minority in that I also think the art is bad; I've never been a fan of Jim Lee (nor any of his fellow over-rendering ilk ala McFarlane, Liefeld, etc.), and this book has solidified ... Read More

This is a good story, with gorgeous art, but is far from being great. It lacks the kind of depth that one can find in All-Star Superman, that provides a great plot and rich characters. Frank Miller's writing on Batman/Bruce Wayne is great, portraying the dark knight as a complete mad man, but with subtle insights that show Bruce Wayne hesitating in some decisions, providing a Batman that, after all, once in costume, is playing a role as if he was an actor; the big problem comes about the story hitself, ... this is the worst story frank miller's written. batman kidnaps a little kid and beats him into becoming robin, oh, and batman kills people too. when frank miller started sin city in the early 90s, he started writing in the same gritty/sin city-esque narrative voice for all his subsequent work. this features that same "tough-as-nails/look-at-me-i'm-a-man!" voice, only its multiplied tenfold. if i were to rate this solely on the writing, i'd give it 1 star. (for the record i loved dark knight strikes again). ... Read More

This is a Fanboys wet dream. If your emotional maturity level is over the age of 12, pass this one by. It was written for its target audience...30+ year olds living in their mom's basement and who have never talked to a real live human female.
For that audience this is like their Bible. For normal humans this reads like someones fan script. Ignore the positive reviews on this, there are Batman titles out there that are far, far superior in every way.
