What could have been the U.S. Navy s most humiliating event became instead a testament to the honor, loyalty, and dedication of the U.S. Seventh Fleet in their rescue of their sister ship.

At the very least, this novel is equal to the first. Murder on Pratas Reef was a wonderful book filled with enough mystery and action to keep the "real men" satisfied, and enough of a love story to keep us romantics happy. I loved Murder on Pratas Reef as much as The Haverfield Incident. Keep them coming!

I was actually on board this ship when all this took place some 40 years ago. It brought back a lot of old memories (good & bad) about the grounding. This is something that a person will never forget. I believe the author, Rick Ainsworth, did an excellent job putting this novel together. 'Operation Maximum Effort' lasted for 37 days. This time period was very trying, exhausting, fearful but also exciting at times. It is a must read for anyone who has served in the U.S. Navy. 5 STARS!!!!

Wow. I was so impressed when I read Rick Ainsworth's Thunder and Storm: The Haverfield Incident. This is his follow up book and I almost have to say it is even better. You care about the people in the book and even though it takes place in the 60s, I can still identify with the raw emotions and turmoil in one's life.
