Editorial Review:
Product Description: When CBS cancelled Serling's series, "The Twilight Zone", Serling sought a similar concept in "Night Gallery" in the early 1970s as a new forum for his brand of storytelling, a mosaic of classic horror and fantasy tales. In this work, the authors explore the genesis of the series and provide production detail and behind-the-scenes material. They offer critical commentary and off-screen anecdotes for every episode, complete cast and credit listings, and synopses of all 43 episodes. Also featured are interviews with television personalities including Roddy McDowall, John Astin, Richard Kiley and John Badham.

I purchased this book on a whim, since I am a huge Night Gallery fan. i read it in three days while on vacation. it was interesting and a very easy read. It gave me a new prospective while watching the shows again. Lets just say it enhanced the experience knowing what was going on behind the scenes

Although not expressly stated, this book has two theses:
1. Night Gallery was not as bad as we thought it was.
2. It could have been better.
Thesis 1 is the book's central mission. Reexamine the show, and look again with new, or renewed eyes! It may help to focus only on Serling's scripts:
* They're Tearing Down Tom Riley's Bar
* Eyes
* Green Fingers
* Pamela's Voice
* A Question Of Fear
* The Class of `99

If you love Night Gallery or the creative work of Rod Serling, you should buy this book. You will not be disappointed. This is is one of the best and most detailed guides ever written about a TV show. Other reviewers have noted its excellent qualities. However, it is far more than an just another episode guide. Throughout its contents, the authors make 3 stunning arguments:
1.) Far from being on the downside of his writing career, Rod Serling wrote top notch scripts for Night Gallery, ... Read More

If you are a fan of Rod Serling, then this book is absolutely essential (along with the book "The Twilight Zone Companion" by Marc Scott Zicree)!
Similar in style to "The Twilight Zone Companion," this book talks about the behind the scenes history of Night Gallery from its start, to production, and then to demise. It seems that Night Gallery did not run as smoothly as Rod's first outing, The Twilight Zone. Unlike the Zone, Rod did not have creative control and continuously fought with producer ... Read More

This book, which is now almost ten years old, is a great companion to the recent DVD releases of "Night Gallery." I would love to see it reedited, though, to make the commentary more subtle than the star rating every episode gets before you even start reading its entry. Now that most of the shows are readily available to us, the ratings distract from the history, and our opinion of them inevitably affects our opinion of the book itself.
For example, when you watch "Deliveries in the Rear" and get ... Read More
