Editorial Review:
Product Description: John Candy, Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman and Dom DeLuise rocket into orbit in this side-splitting Mel Brooks excursion where good and evil forces grapple in an out-of-this-world galaxy.
Amazon.com: Mel Brooks's 1987 parody of the Star Wars trilogy is a jumble of jokes rather than a comic feature, and, predictably, some of those jokes work better than others. The cast, including Brooks in two roles, more or less mimics the principal characters from George Lucas's famous story line, and the director certainly gets a boost from new allies (SCTV graduates Rick Moranis and John Candy) as well as old ones (Dick Van Patten, Dom DeLuise). Watch this and wait for the sporadic inspiration--but don't be surprised if you find yourself yearning for those years when Brooks was a more complete filmmaker (Young Frankenstein). --Tom Keogh

This is Mel Brooks' greatest movie achievement. The next is his Life Stinks film. The story is marvelous, the action, great! The diologue, so funny and the locations, just grand. It is a shot of pure Mel Brooks, something we have not been given in many of his movies. It tells a linear story that makes you feel very satisfied at the end. Get it, enjoy it and do not look back.
Enjoy fellow spaceballs!

John Candy has been in A LOT of films but none bring out his true nature like Spaceballs.
It's got everything: stunning visuals (not REALLY stunning, but sure, its got good visuals for the 80s), hilarious humors and jokes, and a REALLY intense plot (notice my sarcasism). Okay, the story may have been sort of easy, but either way, it was a great film! Laughter filled me up! A great film to watch!

I liked it even with the corney jokes. But my major beef is that it has spanish and french subtitles, But not English. What gives? Does Mel Brooks think there are no hearing impaired in the English speaking world? My hearing is fine and I still frequantly have the subtitles up.

the only way that you will be able to like this movie is if you like spoofs . if you like movies like Airplane , Naked Gun or Blazing Saddles then you will love this movie . this is my favorate spoof ever ! I remember it when it first came out , I bought the tape then and I love it today , own the DVD . this is a classic comedy spoof that will probably never be beat (especially with the lame spoofs that are coming out today) . if you are one of the rare people that have never seen this movie , it ... Being a long time Star Wars fan, I thought that Mel Brook
may have gone one evil empire too far here?
I enjoyed the movie, but the character of Luke
was pretty much left out?
Anyway they never made a chapter eleven or 10 prequels did they?
You realize that the last three prequels and the last paint into av corner episode all came after this "pigs in space" comedy.
