Ed Brubaker continues to impress me with his direction in the saga of Captain America. I love the espionage, and the flashbacks to WWII. The war is such the root of the character, that to ignore it in favor of colorful modern enemies, is to diminish the essence of who Captain America is. I applaud the daring of the editorial staff of Marvel to allow Ed and his team to explore this direction of the mythos of the Captain, and I for one, can't wait to see where they take the characters next.

Plenty has been said about the initial story, (after all, it was national news) and the fact that the book is still selling over a year later, after the death of the titular character, should make clear the craftsmanship going on here. The creative team won the Eisner for their efforts and it was well-deserved.

Not much to say. I read volume 1 and had to keep going. I never thought I'd approve of a new Cap but the way it's done is great. I really enjoyed this book. I'd definately recommend this series to anyone who enjoyed "Civil War"

The Death of Captain America was really the beginning of a new chapter, and a rebirth of the symbol for a new age. Brubaker and team have wisely throttled the team into thriller mode. The Death of CA in the wake of the Civil War epic is really about the ongoing SHIELD-Avengers-Stark-Winter Soldier-Falcon-Black Widow-Sharon Carter-etc intrique that make this a nice comic meets film noir tale. What will happen next? Let's hope the series can keep up the momentum.
