While I read a lot of Marvel titles, I haven't kept up as well as I apparently need to in order to know all the characters in this crossover.
Some positives:
Even though this section is much smaller than my complaints below, I want to be clear that I enjoyed the storyline. The overall plot was well thought out, and I enjoyed reading the Summit notes at the end of the trade paperback. The writers did a good job of keeping you interested. There were so many sides pulling ... Read More

The fights are really cool, but there isn't really more than a single plot thread which barely moves along for such a long book. It ends without resolving anything and basically just serves as a list of notable mutants who are now dead in the Marvel universe.

I just jumped back into comics and this book is a decent place to jump. Don't get me wrong the story and art are awesome, I'm talking strictly about new readers. You won't get all the story but you'll get enough and what you do get will leave you wanting more.
Messiah Complex is well complex. There are lots of teams, characters and motives intertwining to create one big game changing event that is actually part one of a trilogy.
If you're a new reader or old X-Men fan than keep ... Read More

This contains material from X-men, New X-men, Uncanny X-men, X-factor, and more. So the look and feel of the comic changes every 20 or 30 pages. The story itself is a fast paced action/mystery that's important if you're following the bigger mutant storyline at Marvel. The one I wish I had skipped is Endangered Species, now that was boring!

X-Men: Messiah Complex provides more mutant thinning of the marvel universe some important some not so important. It provides some answers to some of the x-futures how they come to be. Some cool battles involving the Marauders, x-men, New x-men, and a mutant I won't name and there followers.
Not to mention some GREAT, GREAT art.
Let me just say how hard it is to write a review with out giving away any of the story. So I'm going to end my review now cuz' I don't want to give away anything.
