Editorial Review:

Product Description:
The impossible has been accomplished. The Lord Ruler – the man who claimed to be god incarnate and brutally ruled the world for a thousand years – has been vanquished. But Kelsier, the hero who masterminded that triumph, is dead too, and now the awesome task of building a new world has been left to his young protégé, Vin, the former street urchin who is now the most powerful Mistborn in the land, and to the idealistic young nobleman she loves.

As Kelsier’s protégé and slayer of the Lord Ruler she is now venerated by a budding new religion, a distinction that makes her intensely uncomfortable. Even more worrying, the mists have begun behaving strangely since the Lord Ruler died, and seem to harbor a strange vaporous entity that haunts her.

Stopping assassins may keep Vin’s Mistborn skills sharp, but it’s the least of her problems. Luthadel, the largest city of the former empire, doesn’t run itself, and Vin and the other members of Kelsier’s crew, who lead the revolution, must learn a whole new set of practical and political skills to help. It certainly won’t get easier with three armies – one of them composed of ferocious giants – now vying to conquer the city, and no sign of the Lord Ruler’s hidden cache of atium, the rarest and most powerful allomantic metal.

As the siege of Luthadel tightens, an ancient legend seems to offer a glimmer of hope. But even if it really exists, no one knows where to find the Well of Ascension or what manner of power it bestows.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Beyond Fantastic
This book is terrific. It embodies all the superb elements of fantasy novels and discards most, if not all, of the undesirable elements. This is rounded out with great character development, a mature and realistic romance, and a couple of great plot twists.

If you liked Mistborn, then you will love this book. If you like fantasy, then I strongly suggest reading this book's prequel then reading it. You will not be disappointed, I guarantee.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Very good trilogy "middle book"!
Sanderson expands on his unique magic system and further develops his characters very well in this 2nd Mistborn book. The overall story of the trilogy is furthered, while an entertaining and action-packed story of seige and war is told around it. I am very much looking forward to the conclusion of this series. Sanderson is one of the better fantasy writers today. Recommended!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - An excellent read, but I didn't like it as much as the first
I enjoyed the first mistborn book, and so I thought I'd pick up this one. I was satisfied with the story in general, but not as much as the first book.

Pros: Once again, the excellent magic system of allomancy is amazing, and feruchemy is explained and used in more detail. It also sets us up to find out more about the mysterious third system, hemalurgy, that Brandon mentions will be introduced in the third book.
-Much better characterization of the side characters. You get to ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wonderful
What can I say but, what a great book. I loved the characters and plot lines that Brandon developed in his second Mistborn book. It's refreashing to read something "new" in this old Fantasy genere that is so well written. I cant wait for October for the 3rd book

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - TOR goes cheap and hurts the product.
I just received the hardcover version of WOA and am very irritated at TOR books. They apparently saved some money by using the smallest possible font size they could get away with - making the book 500ish pages long rather then 700ish? They also apparently saved on ink. The text is a medium to light brown in color with poor contrast offwhitish paper. I do use reading glasses on some books and on some I do not. Even with reading glasses, it was a chore to read this book, and required me to get the ... Read More
