I think my eight year old son used the book more for his entertainment than for helping him get through the game.

Long before we had kids my husband and I started playing the Pokémon Game Boy games, we discovered that with an open mind even adults can have a blast collecting Pokémon creatures and training them. Battling even helps with stress as you fight your troubles away. 10 years later and we are still playing and just purchased the DS Pokemon Platinum.
