One of the best of the Next Generation stories; the basic concept is deeper and more serious than most, dealing as it does with the conflicted emotions that most Federation and Starfleet folk feel toward the Maquis and the difficult concept of being required by honor to help the Cardassains suppress the Maquis, but feeling on some level that doing so puts one on the side of the oppressors. Its a great book I loved reading it and now im gonna read it again.

This is a good story, but the number of twists and turns reduces its credibility. The basic story is predictable from the title and the early introduction of the Maquis, but the details and the twists are not predictable. However, ignoring a few minor typos and inconsistencies, it is an entertaining story. See other reviews for parts of the plot.
