Editorial Review:
Product Description: A new era of exciting adventures and shocking revelations continues to unfold, as the legendary Star Wars saga sweeps forward into astonishing new territory.
Civil war looms as the fledgling Galactic Alliance confronts a growing number of rebellious worlds–and the approaching war is tearing the Skywalker and Solo families apart. Han and Leia return to Han’s homeworld, Corellia, the heart of the resistance. Their children, Jacen and Jaina, are soldiers in the Galactic Alliance’s campaign to crush the insurgents.
Jacen, now a complete master of the Force, has his own plans to bring order to the galaxy. Guided by his Sith mentor, Lumiya, and with Luke’s young son Ben at his side, Jacen embarks on the same path that his grandfather Darth Vader once did. And while Han and Leia watch their only son become a stranger, a secret assassin entangles the couple with a dreaded name from Han’s past: Boba Fett. In the new galactic order, friends and enemies are no longer what they seem. . . .

Karen Traviss takes the helm in the second installment of the Legacy of the Force series. While the plot from the first book has some ill conceived moments, I found the whole major idea, the Luke/Jacen conflict, to be very interesting, and the Corellia/GA conflict conceivable, to some extent, and somewhat reflective on current global situations. While Star Wars in general has never flourished under any kind of intense scrutiny, this series after the first book seemed to be doing fine with plot, ... Read More

This is the second installment of the nine-book Legacy of the Force series and was, in my view, better than the first book (Betrayal). Karen Traviss is a wonderful writer who knows the characters well and successfully adds her own elements to the plot as well as forwarding the ideas that have already been laid forth. However, as great as Traviss and her book were, there are still a few minor problems (that, while do not prove to be too distracting from the novel itself, still linger in the ... Read More

This book is well written and captivating. A very interesting and in depth look at both Anakin Solo's descent into darkness as well as Boba Fett's own complex story.

Jacen takes his next big step to the dark side under the guidance of Luke's old love/foe, Lumiya. As the Galactic Alliance hovers near war with Corellia, Jacen takes on the job of the head of the not-so-secret police. He continues to mentor Ben Skywalker, as Luke debates internally and with wife Mara as to whether he should force Ben away from the darkening Jacen. Even stronger rifts arise between Jacen and his sister, Jaina, as well as with his father, Han. The 'bloodlines' of the Skywalker line continues ... Read More

The characters in this book often make decisions that make no sense based on their values or past expereinces. I wonder if the authors in this series have read or care about the Star Wars universe. This book and the others in thie series seem bent on old allies becoming enemies and killing or attempting to kill each other. Luke tries to kill his nephew, Luke's nephew kills Luke's wife and tortures Luke son and on and on it goes. The inclusive of Bobba Fett and his "family" seems almost a "nice" diversive ... Read More
